We have designed a catalytic converter theft deterrent cage. This is an all-weather exoskeleton cage made with layers of steel, tailored to the catalytic converter and pipes.

It can withstand extreme heat and ventilates exhaust temperatures above 800 degrees. The cage is independent from the exhaust system; the only contact made with the truck is at the frame mount attaching point. The frame mount is a reinforced structure that houses the lock assembly and supports the cage to the truck.

Three primary cage designs were needed for differing truck manufacture models and engine types. We also took into consideration 2WD and 4x4, and both American and foreign made. Our cage models follow the manufacturer platforms; one cage will fit for several years.

The first design most popular for every manufacturer is a one-piece that is completely detachable; the second design is a two-piece, also completely detachable; the third design is a clam shell cage, non-detachable with a locking access door, for large exhaust systems mounted away from the frame, as in diesel trucks.

We have two frame mount designs for the detachable cages: a weld-on and a bolt-on, whichever the manufacturer prefers. Each can be easily modified for different truck model platforms.

We have also designed a new lock and housing assembly specifically for this security device. It is a heat resistant machined steel lock with a two-piece interlocking heat resistant lock housing assembly. One half of the lock housing is welded to the cage, the other half is welded to the frame mount.

There are several benefits to this catalytic converter theft deterrent cage. The first and most important is that it is an actual theft deterrent - it strikes an immediate first impression because it is visually intimidating. At first sight it is apparent that there is no easy way to get past this cage. Thieves will be drawn away to easier unprotected targets.

Professional thieves use pipe cutters when stealing catalytic converters. Pipe cutters are fast, quiet, and self-aligning. The professional thief can steal converters in 15 seconds or less with a pipe cutter, but pipe cutters will not work on this cage. Professional thieves and others will no longer have the advantage.

Our one-of-a-kind lock cannot be picked; the key is not available at any store.

This security device lives in extreme environments with zero maintenance. There are no moving parts. It does not rely on electronics, meaning it will continue to provide protection when the electronics of the vehicle fail.

The cage is completely detachable; diesel trucks will have a locking access door. This is a service friendly cage for both the truck’s owner and mechanics.

Each primary cage design that is built can be modified to fit any truck exhaust system, American and foreign made.

The cage is designed to last the lifetime of the vehicle.
